Wisconsin Stamping & Manufacturing Highlights Industrial Benefits of Raschig Rings

GERMANTOWN, WI - October 12, 2026 - PRESSADVANTAGE -
Wisconsin Stamping & Manufacturing, an ISO 9001 certified metal fabrication company located in Germantown, Wisconsin, has released new information detailing the industrial benefits of raschig rings and their expanding role across chemical processing and separation operations. The announcement outlines how the company manufactures these random packing components for facilities that depend on efficient mass transfer, and it clarifies the material options and performance characteristics that engineers weigh when specifying packing media for demanding environments.
Raschig rings are tubular metal pieces that typically feature an equal length and diameter, and they are used as random packing materials inside process equipment. When loaded into a column or vessel, the rings settle into a randomly packed configuration that creates a large amount of surface area within a compact footprint. That surface area, combined with the open geometry of each ring, promotes contact between liquid and vapor streams and supports the chemical and physical exchanges that many industrial processes require.
The company noted that raschig rings serve a wide range of applications. They are commonly installed in fractional distillation columns, quench towers, and gas absorption and stripping systems, and they are also used as media supporting reactor internals. In each case, the packing helps distribute flow, increase interfacial contact, and improve the overall efficiency of mass transfer operations. Because the rings can be produced in numerous sizes, they allow process engineers to tailor packing characteristics to the throughput and separation goals of a specific unit.
Material selection is a central consideration in the company's approach to raschig ring production. Wisconsin Stamping & Manufacturing produces rings from stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, copper, nickel, exotic alloys, and superalloys. This range gives customers the ability to match a packing material to the temperature, pressure, and chemical exposure conditions of their process, whether the priority is corrosion resistance, thermal stability, or cost control across a large fill volume.
According to the company, three benefits define the value of metal raschig rings in industrial settings. The first is comparatively low cost, made possible by the breadth of available metals and the ability to specify an economical alloy where process conditions permit. The second is durability, as metal rings can withstand caustic chemicals and extreme temperatures that would degrade other packing materials. The third is high capacity paired with strong separation efficiency, which allows facilities to process significant volumes while maintaining the quality of the separation.
"Raschig rings remain one of the most dependable forms of random packing available to process engineers, and the material really is what makes the difference," said David Renner, Director of Manufacturing at Wisconsin Stamping & Manufacturing. "When a customer tells us about the temperatures, the chemistry, and the throughput they are dealing with, we can point them toward the alloy that will hold up and perform the way they need it to over the long run."
The company also produces pall rings, a related packing product that features perforated windows around the perimeter of the ring. Those openings increase flow rates and reduce the fouling that can occur with standard raschig rings, giving engineers an additional option when a process calls for higher capacity or lower pressure drop. Offering both product types allows the company to support a broader set of separation and processing requirements from a single manufacturing source.
Wisconsin Stamping & Manufacturing operates from Germantown, Wisconsin, and brings nearly 70 years of metal manufacturing experience to its packing media work. The company recently acquired DJS Manufacturing as a subsidiary and partners with WorldSource Fasteners, additions that broaden its production capabilities and supply relationships. Its ISO 9001 certification reflects a documented quality management system that supports consistency across product lines.
"Our customers are running processes where reliability is not optional, so we take the same care with a packing component that we would with any critical part," Renner said. "The goal is always to deliver rings that arrive to specification and perform in the field."
Raschig rings continue to hold a foundational place in distillation, gas absorption, stripping, and related chemical processing operations, and the durability and material flexibility of metal packing keep it relevant for facilities operating under harsh conditions. Wisconsin Stamping & Manufacturing produces these components to support industries that depend on efficient and reliable mass transfer.

Rising Summer Temperatures Intensify Vehicle Inspection Demand in North Valley

What Should Albuquerque Drivers Check Before a Long Road Trip?
  Albuquerque, United States - October 12, 2026 / Mango Automotive /

THE VALLEY, N.M., October 12, 2026 – With Albuquerque temperatures regularly exceeding 95°F in July, Mango Automotive (The Valley) is addressing a seasonal spike in cooling system failures, battery breakdowns, and brake-related incidents that strand North Valley drivers on desert highways each summer. The shop at 301 Griegos Rd NW runs pre-trip inspections covering fluids, electrical systems, and high-wear components for passenger vehicles, diesel trucks, and RVs.

How Pre-Trip Fluid and Brake Inspections Prevent Summer Breakdowns
Engine oil and coolant are the first checkpoints for any vehicle heading into sustained highway heat. Oil that appears dark or gritty signals an overdue change, while coolant below the minimum line becomes a direct desert driving hazard. The standard 50/50 antifreeze-to-water ratio protects against boilover under extended high-temperature conditions. A weaker mixture lowers the boiling point and raises failure risk.

Fluid

Warning Threshold

Action

Engine oil

Dark/gritty or below MIN

Change before departure

Coolant

Below MIN or <50% antifreeze

Top off or flush

Brake fluid

Discolored or moisture-absorbed

Replace

Power steering fluid

Low or discolored

Top off; inspect for leaks

Brake pads measuring under 3mm are unsafe for sustained highway or mountain driving. According to AAA's vehicle inspection research, brake system issues rank among the top mechanical failures stranding drivers during summer months. For auto service and repair needs before any trip, pad depth and fluid condition should be verified together.

New pads: 10 to 12mm

Service warning: 3 to 4mm

Replace immediately: 2mm or below

Drivers due for an oil change can also take care of that maintenance before heading out.
Why Battery and Electrical Failures Lead To Summer Roadside Breakdowns
A battery over three years old requires a load test before summer travel. Voltage testing reads only surface charge, while a load test reveals whether the battery can sustain output under real driving demand. NHTSA vehicle safety data and AAA research consistently identify electrical and battery failures as leading causes of warm-weather roadside breakdowns in hot-climate states.

Battery Age

Recommended Action

Year 1 to 2

Monitor; no immediate action

Year 3

Load test before long trips

Year 3+

Consider proactive replacement

A failing alternator producing below 13.5 volts at idle can drain a healthy battery within 30 to 90 minutes. Belts and hoses showing cracks, fraying, or soft spots also warrant replacement before extended highway driving.
Responding to Engine Overheating on New Mexico Highways
If the temperature gauge climbs into the red zone, drivers should pull over immediately, turn off the A/C, and set the cabin heater to maximum. This draws heat from the engine through the HVAC system. The engine should idle for one to two minutes before being shut off. Opening the radiator cap on a hot engine risks serious burns from pressurized coolant.
The cost gap between early intervention and delayed response is significant. According to RepairPal's repair cost estimator, thermostat replacement averages $610 to $708, while head gasket repair ranges from $2,543 to $3,337.

Repair

Avg. Cost (RepairPal, 2026)

Head gasket replacement

$2,543 to $3,337

Critical

"We see cooling system and battery failures increase every June through August, especially on vehicles over 100,000 miles," says Jesse Jackson of Mango Automotive.  "A one-hour inspection can mean the difference between a thermostat replacement and a head gasket job on the side of I-40."
Not all auto repair shops give older vehicles, diesel trucks, and RVs the attention they need before a long haul. Mango Automotive works regularly with that exact vehicle mix from North Valley, Los Ranchos, and the surrounding Griegos Rd corridor. Drivers looking for automotive repair services or a diesel mechanic in Albuquerque can reach the shop at (505) 242-3401 or through the website.
Routine cooling system flushes, coolant concentration checks, and thermostat inspections remain the most effective prevention against summer breakdowns for vehicles across the greater Albuquerque area.
